This pen of seven spring lambs averaging 57kg sold for €182 each.

Raphoe held their weekly sheep sale on Monday. There was a reduced number of sheep on offer in this week’s sale, with a lot of farmers in no hurry to sell lambs with the good grass growth in the north west.

The sale mainly consisted of spring lambs, with a few cull ewes and ewes with lambs at foot on offer. Spring lambs in the 45-55kg weight bracket sold for between €175 and €186, lambs in the 38-45kg weight bracket sold for between €160 and €175 and lambs between 33 and 38kg sold for between €120 and €160.

Prices for lambs in the 28-33kg weight bracket ranged from €100 to €120, with a few lots of nice tight skinned lambs making slightly more. There was good demand for these lighter store lambs from farmers, who were buying lambs for grass.

Cull ewes made between €80 and €190, with the majority of these being bought up by local factory agents. The majority of ewes with single lambs at foot sold for close to €200, while ewes with twins at foot sold for around €250.

This pair of ewes with single lambs at foot sold for €245 each.

This ewe with twin lambs at foot sold for €290.

These pair of lambs averaging 45kg sold for €177 each.

These 6 lambs averaging 45.8kg sold for €179 each.
