Headford Mart in Co Galway is the latest mart to move its online bidding provider to MartBids, the Irish Farmers Journal’s online bidding platform.
Next Saturday, 12 July, will be the first sale at the mart that will take place on MartBids.
Clareman Noel Considine from Lisdoonvarna took up the roll of general manager of the Galway mart in January 2025.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal he said: “We are delighted to partner with MartBids for our online buying and selling.
“It’s a huge part of the way we do business now and we are excited about what we can do with the platform.
“We have a lot of farmers buying online but also a lot of farmers dropping off stock at the mart and watching their animals being sold online.”
On the cattle trade he said: “The trade so far this year has been great with a lot of positivity around marts again.
“At the moment the back end looks very good for the weanling trade which is great for our core customer base, the suckler farmer.”
The move by Headford Mart brings the total amount of marts currently using MartBids to 30.
