About me: “I am 15 years old and I come from a sheep, horse and cattle farm based outside Tulsk in Co Roscommon. I have been showing sheep all my life, mainly Texel and Suffolk. Outside of farming, I love playing football and camogie with my local GAA club, Tulsk. Currently I attend Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown. When I grow up I hope to become a vet, as I really enjoy working outdoors with animals.”
Showing: “My Suffolk ram lamb today is out of Billyglynn Chieftian and a homebred ewe. This year we are also showing a ewe lamb and a hogget. My brother Conor and sister Tara are also interested in farming and showing, a few years ago Tara won the overall sheep of the show at Longford. We hope to attend a number of shows this year, including the National Livestock Show in Tullamore in August.”
Award: “Winning the Young Shepherd/Shepherdess competition would really mean a lot to me, I am absolutely delighted to have qualified for the final.”

Ciara Fitzpatrick qualified at Longford Show for the senior section of the FBD All-Ireland Young Stock Person finals.
About me: “I am 19 years old and I come from Kilkeel in Co Down. On our home farm we run a herd of pedigree Hereford cattle. Prior to that, we had a herd of sucklers and we also fattened beef cattle. Our aim is to build up to about 50 pedigree Hereford cows. We’re doing quite well so far, just recently we won the National Hereford female champion in Northern Ireland.”
Showing: “My younger sister Katie and I absolutely love farming and showing. I really enjoy getting out to the summer shows, meeting people and learning as much as I can.”
Education: “Outside of farming I attend Harper Adams University in the UK, where I study Applied Animal Science. When I finish I hope to specialise in beef and dairy genetics and animal nutrition.”
Competition: “In 2024, I qualified for the final of the FBD All-Ireland Young Stock Person competition in Tullow, which I found to be a great learning curve. Hopefully that experience will stand to me in this year’s competition.”
