Running over the weekend on the MartEye app and in conjunction with Harrison and Hetherington was the Breeders Choice Summer Selection Sale. The sale was made up of 30 lots of quality Suffolk, Blue Texel and Badgerface sheep. It took place with much interest from both Irish and UK buyers.
Topping the sale and selling for £3,900 (€4,520) was Kilduff Destiny a modern-type Suffolk from James Dunne. The silky January-born ewe lamb was sired by homebred ram Kilduff Cool Dude and her dam is one of the flock’s top ewes, that goes back to Castleisle Casanova. It was Donegal-based breeder Michael Leonard who placed the winning bid on the stand-out ewe lamb.
Dunne sold a second Suffolk ewe lamb for £2,400 (€2,781). This was also a modern-type Suffolk with a flashy head and super colours. She is one of the first lambs to be sold off the 10,000gns Limestone Rizzler. Kilduff Dee will head across the border to Northern Ireland to Messrs Bryan.
Blue Texels
The Blue Texel consignment was topped at £2,500 (€2,897) by Powerful Jamaica, a strong ram lamb from Philip Crowe. Jamaica was a highly admired lot standing as male champion at the 2025 All-Ireland Blue Texel championships. He is a son of Derg Jack in the Box, the 2024 Dungannon premier sale champion. This champion ram lamb will head across the channel to join the flock of Messrs Borlase in Hertfordshire.
