Bluetongue restrictions put in place across the UK resulted in a sticky trade at the 2025 Charollais Sheep Society premier sale at Worchester on Saturday 5 July. However, there was still a willingness from pedigree breeders to spend on some of the top lots. This resulted in a top price of 10,000gns (€12,187).
Achieving that price was Cavick Da Vinci Code from Norfolk couple, Mitchel and Elizabeth Britten.
This quality lamb also performed extremely well in the pre-sale show, picking up reserve overall champion under the eye of judge Richard Geldard from Cumbria.
The Springhill Butterfly Effect-sired lamb was sold in a four-way split to the Robleston, Glyn Coch, Moelfryn and Wernfawr flocks in Wales.
