Researchers with the Sustain Sheep project in Teagasc Athenry are asking farmers to participate in a short survey assessing their awareness of genetic tools to help reduce methane emissions. They are also seeking feedback about farmers’ preferred method of accessing information to improve future communications.

Sustain Sheep is an international project aiming to create an infrastructure to incorporate genetic merit into national sheep breeding schemes for low environmental impact.

It also aims to improve farmer understanding, both nationally and internationally, about the benefits of including genetic merit evaluations on important production traits.
