The latest Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) payment update shows upwards of another 200 farmers paid on 11 July 2025.
This is broken down as detailed below across the three payment streams – balancing payments for 2023, advance payments for 2024 and balancing payments for 2024.
Payments in respect of 2023
Balancing payments, in respect of participation in the Scheme in 2023, were made on 11 July 2025 to 64 participants, with those payments amounting to €63,771.51. This brought the total paid in respect of participation in ACRES in 2023 to €248.7 million, paid to 44,304 participants, or 99% of all ACRES Tranche 1 participants.
The Department reports that it leaves a total of 396 farmers have yet to receive their final payments for 2023. It says that within this “118 have already received an interim payment of either €4,000 or €5,000, respectively. In many instances, this will cover the entire amount of the payment due. • Processing of these cases continues, and payments are being made on a weekly basis to those participants whose contracts have been cleared during that period”.
Advance payments in respect of 2024 (85% of total payment due)
In terms of 2024 advance payments worth 85% of the total year’s payment another 63 participants received payments amounting to €250,870.02. The Department states that this payment run brought total 2024 Advance payments to just under €225.7 million, paid to 52,497 farmers, or almost 98% of all ACRES participants.
It adds that “advance payments in respect of scheme participation in 2024 have still to be made to 1,483 ACRES participants across Tranches 1 and 2. Of these 1,483 participants, 396 are also awaiting their balancing payment in respect of 2023, as that must be paid before the 2024 Advance payment may be made to them”.
Balancing payments in respect of 2024 (remaining 15% of total payment due)
The most recent payment run of 11 July 2025 paid €36,420.43 to a further 94 participants. This brought the total paid in balancing payments in respect of 2024 to almost €38.7 million, to 51,160 participants. Almost 95% of all participants are up to date with payments leaving almost 2,700 participants yet to receive their 2024 balancing payment.
