Lawmakers in Texas have moved to ban lab-grown meat. From 1 September “cell-cultured protein for human consumption” will be banned from being manufactured or sold in the state. It is the seventh state which has banned the sale of lab-grown or cultured meat. Local cattle ranchers are happy with the move. They have said the law is “designed to protect consumers and uphold the integrity of traditionally raised beef products”.
