Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, native Áine Egan joined the Herefords Australia backroom team last month, with a baptism of fire at the National Hereford Show and Sale.

Egan grew up on her grandparents’ beef farm and has lived down under for eight years.

The Irish woman is well used to cattle and will now have the task of making the red and whites look good.

A tricky one for the Aussies to get right, the association shared a note for pronouncing Áine’s name correctly.

“It’s pronounced ‘Onya’ – just think ‘good on ya’,” Hereford breeders were told.
