Tirlán has set its milk price at 46.7c/l, excluding VAT, for May creamery milk supplies at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein.

After holding its milk price last month, this is a 0.95c/l, excluding VAT, reduction compared to April.

The May milk price consists of a base price of 46.22c/l and a sustainability action payment to all qualifying suppliers of 0.48c/l, both excluding VAT.

These payments will be adjusted to reflect the actual constituents of milk delivered by suppliers.

Tirlán becomes the third co-operative to announce a decrease to its milk price in May, following on from Kerry Dairy Ireland and Dairygold. Arrabawn Tipperary and Lakeland Dairies both increased their prices for May.

Tirlán chairperson John Murphy said the co-op has come through a very strong peak milk supply period and milk volumes remain very good due to favourable weather conditions.

“While dairy markets are generally stable, the price we have set today reflects the current returns. It is still shaping up to be a decent year on dairy farms.”
