An Ifor Williams trailer housing two chickens has been stolen from a farmyard in Spanish Point, Co Clare.
It is believed the theft occurred at between 1.30am and 2am in the early morning of Tuesday 17 June at the farm located near the Armada Hotel.
The 5x10 double-axle trailer, which is over 10 years old, has some defining characteristics: the brake cable in the trailer needs replacing and it uses external lighting so a cable runs down the side of the trailer.
The affected farmer had recently bought two small black and white chickens which were being housed at night in a rabbit box in the trailer. They are also believed to be stolen.
An Garda Síochána have been notified of the theft.
The affected farmer said: “We’re now hearing from other people that there’s a large spate of trailers being stolen,” they said.
“It’s been worrying - our area is fairly ok in terms of things like this, but it’s worrying to know there are people driving around watching what folks have.”
