I see some the country’s cheeses have been recognised at the world’s largest dairy awards.

The 2025 International Cheese and Dairy Awards, held in Staffordshire County Showground in England last week, saw Ornua take home 23 awards including four major honours.

Vintage cheddar made by Tirlán won the trophy for the best single vintage creamery/block cheddar. Meanwhile, Pilgrim’s Choice extra mature cheddar won trophies in the reserve champion overseas, champion overseas cheddar, and best Irish cheddar categories. Dairygold took home a number of awards for mature cheddar, vegetarian cheese and grated cheese, while Kerrygold also took home five awards with its unsalted butter getting gold. Carbery took home two awards as well.

Good to see we are cream of the crop at the cheese Olympics.
