Intermediate Qualifier, Saintfield Show
“I am absolutely delighted to qualify for the finals of the FBD Young Stock Person competition once again.
“In 2023, I won the Junior All-Ireland Young Stock Person competition at Cappamore Show.”
“I am now 14 years old, so this year I am competing in the intermediate section of the competition.
“My younger brother, Lewis, qualified for the junior section of the FBD Young Stock Person competition at Armagh Show last week, which was great.
“On our home farm we run a herd of pedigree Red Angus and Simmental cows. I love showing them, it’s something I look forward to every year.
“Winning the reserve overall Angus champion at this year’s Balmoral Show was special for me and my family.
“When I’m not farming, I enjoy playing rugby with my local Ballynahinch Rugby Club. I am also a member of the Spa Young Farmers.”

Junior Qualifier, Cork Show
“I am 11 years old and I come from Mallow in Co Cork. My love for showing and breeding cattle started when I was very young. My grandfather, Peter O’Connell, owns the well-known Raceview Simmental herd. I have been helping him get the cattle ready for shows and sales for the last number of years, I really love spending time with them.
“I have two brothers, Ted and Ger, who are also interested in the cattle.
“I attend Rahan Primary School in Mallow.
“When I’m not at school, I am usually helping my grandfather with his Simmentals. I also love reading and going to truck shows with my parents.
“At the weekends, I go with my grand- father who does AI in the area.
“I help him upload the information on to the computer. This is one of my favourite things to do. When I grow up I’d love to be a farmer like my grandfather.”
