The Irish Charollais Sheep Society held its All-Ireland championship on Saturday in Athenry, at the Teagasc Sheep 2025 event. The day was a hive of activity, with just under 70 Charollais sheep on show. They where judged across seven classes by Ian Craig of the NI-based Ballynoe House flock.
It was a super aged ewe from Mark Miley’s Milo flock that claimed the 2025 All-Ireland champion title. This 2022-born Kirkhouse William Wallace-sired ewe won a strong aged ewe class earlier in the day. She had all the attributes of a true champion, with style and power in abundance, as well as overall correctness.
Taking male champion and overall reserve champion was Carrowbaun Anchorman from Liam and Shane Conway of the Caltra flock. This powerful 2022-born stock ram was a son of Arkrow Noahs Ark.

The shearling ram class followed on from the aged ram class, where it was won by Wexfo Camelot, Raymond and Eamon Shanahan’s stock ram. This extremely correct shearling ram was sired by Kellistown Washington.
The ram lamb class was the largest of the day, with just over 25 entries. The quality of the ram lamb lineup was extremely high, but it was Turret Dream It Up from Eamon and Raymond Shanahan that claimed the red rosette. This Ralahine Wodenzi-sired ram lamb went on to claim the reserve male champion title.
Taking second in the ram lamb class was a strong lamb from Andrew Gilmore’s Redrock flock. This five-star lamb also won first earlier in the day in the large FBD lambplus terminal class. This quality lamb came in the belly of a ewe purchased at the Knockcroghery flock dispersal in November 2024.
There was also a strong entry in the shearling ewe class, where a powerful Springhill-bred shearling ewe claimed the win for James Walsh. This Boyo Bravemans Game daughter was purchased from the well-known Springhill flock of Graham Foster.
The final class of the day was the ewe lamb class. This class also had an extremely strong entry and was won by Andrew Gilmore’s standout ewe lamb. This Springhill Aston Martin daughter had style in abundance. Her dam claimed third in the strong aged ewe class earlier in the day.
