The farmers mart July sale of working dogs saw a strong entry of 131 working dogs and pups. Demand for quality trained dogs and pups was high leading to an overall clearance rate of 78% and an average price of £2,915 (€3,374) being obtained.

The sale was topped by Kemi Kap from well know dog trainer Kevin Evans from Brecon. He was a quality two-and-a-half-year-old dog and he sold for an impressive price of £13,700 (€15,852) to an undisclosed buyer from Ayrshire.

The second highest price of £13,200 (€15,284) in the fully trained section was achieved by David Henderson with Burndale Max, a quality farm working dog. Max will be heading to his new home in the USA.

Also heading to the USA is Shadwell Pie from R Hutchinson, when she sold for £10,700 (€12,391). Pie was described as a dog that is capable of doing any job asked of her.

The fourth dog to sell for a five-figure sum of £10,300 (€11,928) in the trained section was Glebeforst Peg also from the kennels of Kevin Evans.

Prices in the trained dog section remained extremely strong leading to the section recording an impressive average of £5,443 (€6,304).

Partly trained dogs

The top price paid in the partly trained section was £6,300 (€7,297), for a strong dog from Thomas Lane called Bobby. Bobby making the trip to the USA to his new owners.

Following closely behind selling for £6,100 (€7,067) was another quality partly trained dog named Cash from Lyn Howells.

The next highest priced partly trained dog named Wern Kim from Ian Dodd was picked up by an Irish buyer for £5,000 (€5,793). The entire entry of partly trained dogs achieved an average of £1,795 (€2,080).

Top priced pups

Both of the top priced pups were snapped up by Irish buyers. The first was 12-week-old Beacon Jazz from David Evans that sold for £3,550 (€4,113) and the second was Jazz’s litter mate Jimmy that sold for £2,950 (€3,417).

The impressive pup section averaged £1,120 (€1,298).
