Cheetah Electronics is launching a new product called the Rodent Shield System, to prevent farm machinery and vehicle damage caused by rodents. Set to unveil at the Irish Farmers Journal and Teagasc Crops and Technology open day in Oak Park, on Wednesday 25 June, the product is manufactured and designed by Cheetah Electronics in Ballon, Co Carlow. Machinery that is in storage and idle for prolonged periods of time, such as combines, etc, is often targeted by rodents who chew through wires and insulation, which often leads to costly repairs.

The Carlow business claims that Rodent Shield Systems solves this problem by creating a protective barrier around the machine.

The company says that when a rodent makes contact with the product, it receives an electric shock that deters it, without using poison or traps.

“Rodent damage is a silent and costly threat that many farmers face, and often without even knowing it until it’s too late. With Rodent Shield Systems, we wanted to build a smart, safe and practical solution that gives peace of mind. We’ve spent years listening to farmers, and this is just the start of what we hope to bring to the farming community,” said Padraic George, founder of Cheetah Electronics.
