Stena Line has announced that it will withdraw its three-day Rosslare to Cherbourg service from 30 September 2025.
The ferry operator made the decision after an extensive review with the intention of strengthening the company’s investment in the Irish Sea.
The decision to end the service will come as the blow to the calf export trade as Irish calf exporters rely on the route to transport thousands of calves to the continent every spring. The last sailing will depart Cherbourg on 29 September, arriving in Rosslare on 30 September.
A spokesperson for Stena Line told the Irish Farmers Journal: “Under the current proposals the route will not be available in the Spring [2026].”
Withdrawal
Johan Edelman, Stena Line trade director said that the operator will help customers affected by this change.
“Our priority is, as always, the care of our people and customers. We’ve already met with our colleagues and over this period of consultation we will be working with any individual affected to consider all options, including redeployment opportunities.
“I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank our employees, customers and delivery partners over the past 11 years. Our Rosslare to Cherbourg service is one that we will always be proud of, and we will continue to deliver the same high-quality service over the coming months.”
