Aurivo Marts sent out a text message to all customers this week informing them of new rules applying to livestock purchases at all of its marts from Tuesday 15 July.
It also said that all buyers should contact their local mart manager in advance to arrange a new trading agreement.
PSRA warning
The move comes after the Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA) held a meeting with all of the country’s marts earlier this year where credit issues were discussed.
More marts are expected to follow a similar line in the coming weeks.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal general manager of Aurivo Marts, Stephen Hannon, said: “For the vast majority of our customers this won’t have any affect on them but for some it may mean changes in the way we do business.
“The increased cattle prices we have seen in 2025 have meant we have to take prudent decisions to protect our mart business.”
