Rodrigo Pessoa, Irish show jumping team manager, has named his team ahead of the World Equestrian Games in Tryon. \ Matt Browne/Sportsfile
The games will take place in Tryon International Equestrian Centre, North Carolina in September. The show jumping competition will run from September 19th to 23rd.
The team consists of Cian O’Connor with Good Luck (owned by Adena Springs and Ronnoco Jump Ltd), Darragh Kenny with Babalou 41 (owned by Jack Snyder), Paul O’Shea with Skara Glen’s Machu Picchu (owned by Skara Glen Stables, Whipstick Farm, P. Hunter and P. Agnew) and Shane Sweetnam with Chaqui Z (owned by Spy Coast Farm LLC).
Speaking about the announcement, Pessoa said: “These are the four team members that will represent Ireland at the World Equestrian Games where we will be seeking the Olympic qualification that has eluded us for many years and a medal as well.
“I have faith in this team and we are ready to battle with the best teams in the world.”
A fifth squad member, who will be a travelling reserve, will be announced by Pessoa closer to the competition.
