The Global Dairy Trade (GDT) price index has fallen by 1% at the latest auction held on Tuesday 17 June.

This marks the third consecutive drop in the GDT price index, having decreased by 3.5% collectively since 6 May.

The average price for dairy products was €3,794/t, as five items fell in price while two increased.

In total, 15,209t of products swapped hands at the auction between 172 active bidders.

Products

The biggest fall in price at the auction was lactose, which fell by 3.6% to €1,144/t. This was followed by whole milk powder at €3,531/t, down 2.1%, and mozzarella, down 1.9% to €4,151/t.

Anhydrous milk fat and skim milk powder both decreased in price by 1.3% to €6,290/t and €2,399/t respectively.

On the other side, cheddar saw a lift in its price by 5.1% to €4,316/t. Butter also increased, by 1.4% to €6,821/t.

There was no information available for butter milk powder at this auction.
