ATU and Tuam-based business Cormac Tagging have launched a new Agri-Business Management Scholarship in the Mountbellew campus.
The new €3,000 scholarship opportunity for the academic year 2025/26 is designed to support and retain students entering the agri-business management course.
Not only will it provide the winner with financial support to incoming first-year students in Mountbellew Agricultural College in Co Galway, but it also serves a wider purpose: to promote the programme and to ensure students feel encouraged and supported.
Dr Orla Flynn, president of the ATU, thanked Ursula Kelly from Cormac Tagging for championing their students and recognising the value of what they are learning and contributing to the wider agri sector.
“This scholarship reflects what we can achieve when industry and education work hand in hand. It’s a win for students, a win for the programme, and ultimately, a win for the agri-business sector in Ireland,” says Orla.
Dr Edna Curley, principal, Mountbellew Agricultural College, echoed those sentiments, saying collaborations like this show the real impact of industry and education working together.
Speaking about the initiative, Ursula Kelly, director of operations at Cormac Tagging, said she is passionate about the power of education to drive positive change and supporting young people pursuing careers in agri-business.
To be eligible for consideration for the scholarship, you must be a registered first year student of the Agri-Business Management programme and attending the programme. Further details on the application process will be provided once the programme commences in September.
