With places to secure in the international classes at Dublin for the top three combinations in the TRM/Horseware Premier Series leader board after Tattersalls on Sunday, it came as no surprise that riders were out in force last week to rack up some points in a double bill of the series.

It was certainly a good week for Capt Michael Kelly as he took his second TRM/Horseware Premier Series win of the week with Ringwood Glen at Tattersalls last Sunday.

Kelly didn’t put a foot wrong over the two rounds and his time of 39.35 seconds saw him take victory in the €12,000 Friends of Rolestown-sponsored class.

Dean Rogan also returned to the winner’s enclosure with Falco Van Spieveld after he lodged a double-clear in 42.02 for second. Third place belonged to Frank Curran and New World, finishing on zero penalties in 43.34 seconds.

It was also a lucrative weekend for Damien Griffin as he accounted for fourth place with Tabby when he delivered two clear rounds in 45.36. Edward Doyle’s fifth-place finish with Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars, (clear in 51.39) was vital for Doyle as it meant that he finished in third place on the leader board on 22 points, which secured his place for Dublin.

A time fault meant that Alexander Butler and Monastery Stud More Pleasure finished in sixth, but, similar to Doyle, the extra points meant he finished on top position on the leader board on 29 points and as a result will be taking his place in the international classes in Dublin.

Joining Doyle and Butler is John McLaughlin, who finished in second place on the leader board on 23 points

No gamble for FitzGibbon and Poker Des Dames

Taking the honours in Saturday’s TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix was Nicola FitzGibbon. Riding Poker Des Dames, the Kildare rider was fastest of the 10-way jump-off in 35.66 seconds. Cian O’Connor was fractions behind with Aramis 573 as he recorded a clear in 35.97. Peter Moloney occupied third place after he delivered a clear in 36.63 with Ribanbelle Tame, ahead of national hunt jockey Robert Power who also kept all the poles in place with Doonaveeragh O One in a time of 36.79.

Winner of Bannow and Rathangan, Vincent Byrne was back in the placings, taking fifth with Mr Rockefeller when clear in 36.79. Damien Griffin may have finished just out of the top six at Ballinasloe (below), but he made no such mistake at Tattersalls as he partnered Tabby to a clear in 37.01 for sixth.
