The Adversary

The Adversary, Michael Crummey, €24.00

A gift idea for fathers who are readers is the latest Michael Crummey novel, The Adversary, which has just won the 2025 Dublin Literary Award.

It’s a historical novel set on the Canadian island of Newfoundland, where an act of sabotage between a man and woman plunges them both into a feud over the region’s fishing resources.

The story explores themes of power and corruption, touching on sibling rivalries and introducing the reader to intriguing and complex characters. Sure, if it’s good enough for the International Literature Festival Dublin, it’s good enough for dad.

The material of the board is durable and the rectangular shape is easy to use for meal prep. Caulfield Country Boards is a small Irish business based in Carnaross, Co Meath, and it prides itself on designing pieces that last, so the chopping board will be with you for some time.
