A c27ac holding – with the ruins of a former stately house – is going for auction outside Tyrellspass, Co Westmeath. The holding is at Tore and has been brought to the market by James L Murtagh Auctioneers. It goes for auction this month and the guide price is €15,000/ac.

The farm entrance passes through fine cut-stone winged piers which open to a long stone avenue running through the two fields to the ruins of the former period home. As was usually the case, this house was built on an elevated site surrounded by top quality limestone land. There are 360-degree views over the Westmeath countryside.

This is very good land.

The land was at various times in tillage but is now in permanent pasture, with no waste. It lies in two fields with good boundary hedges. There is a livestock handling unit on the land.

The holding is in a convenient loction and just a 3km drive to Junction 4 on the M6 motorway.

To locate the property, leave the motorway on Junction 4 and drive towards Tyrrellspass. In the village, take the left off the main street on to Castle Avenue which runs towards Rathugh and Daingean. Travel on that road for approximately 2km and the property will be on the righthand side, identified by the auctioneer’s sales board.

The ruins.

The auction takes place at the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar,

Co Westmeath and also runs online on the LSL platform at 4.30pm on Tuesday 19 December.
